Each correctional facility in a certain state has the same number of interns, and each facility has interns of each sex. If Lockwood Correctional Facility has 22% of the female interns in the state , does it have less than 20% of the male interns?

(1) Lockwood has more than 18% of the state's male interns.
(2) Lockwood has more female interns than does any other facility in the state.

L has 22% of females interns in the state

Q:does it have <20% of state's males ?

1. L has >18% of states male intern
it can be 19% or 21%
so NOT sufficient.

2. not of much help
so NOT sufficient

1&2 not sufficient


is it E?

Let me see...

suppose state has 100 female interns 100 male interns...and each facility has 40 interns

facility Woman Men
lockw 22 18 <---suppose its 18 then...
y 21 19
x 21 19
w 21 19
z 15 25 <-- then all the numbers add up, if lockwood has more than 18 the number on mens colum exceeds 100..

total 100 100

1) statement 1 doesnt mean much...

so statement 2) basically tell us that lockwood has the highest number of female interns..which is sufficient, cause then we can build out the colum i just did..

B it is..

This one is strange. Basically, I got C is you assume that the percentage is a "whole" number. Otherwise, I get E.

E it is...

Q:
Faculty 1) X members 22% FemaleState. MaleState is less then 20%?
Faculty 2) X members
I. Ins. We know only that MaleState is more then 18%
II. Ins: No information about male at all

Together: Ins: - not enough information about male
