Hi!
Thanks in advance for your time.
Personal:
Age- 22 now. 23 when I apply.
Female, Indian (in India!)
Academic:
I'm studying Veterinary Medicine. Its a 5 year bachelors degree, i'm in the 4th year.
My score for the first 3 years has been around 75% (top 20% of my class) and 4th year is 85% (top 5% of my class).
I should be able to cross the GMAT and GRE threshold scores, but i don't expect particularly fancy scores.
Professional:
2 years as a part-time journalist for the #1 english daily in the country and some magazine work
1 year part-time practising vet + 6 months full-time practising at a hospital (This year and a half is a part of my 5 year course)
6 months interning (part time) at a environmental assessment firm for a goverment project.
Research work: (Not sure how relevant this is)
2 independent research projects presented as posters at big international conferences as sole researcher.. no guide.
1 research project at a highly respected institute in my country, but no publication
1 research paper published in a national journal as sole author.
But more importantly:
Conducted a project at the hospital I work at after being independently awarded full funding by a highly competitive grant foundation.
Other:
General Secretary of the Student body council in my prefinal year
Co-ordinator of my college's international relations group.
English-fluent. +2 indian languages
Presumably strong LORs
Target: Yale SOM!
This is my dream application. Yale offers a joint degree as a Master of Environmental Management (MEM) and an MBA as a 3 year course. The MEM is my primary goal, but the MBA will really help shape some of my career plans. Basically, this is the only way I want to do an MBA because anything without the environmental focus of this joint degree is not going to help me. So its Yale SOM or bust.
Concerns:
Scattered work experience. No professional leadership experience to speak of.
I have only worked in highly skilled and specific jobs, nothing.. corporatey.
I want to manage and execute projects in ecology conservation and renewable energy in developing countries. This MBA makes complete sense at this time in my career path (Atleast it does to me) and i feel like i could convince an adcom of this fact in my essays.
I want to know how i can address my weaknesses as an inexperienced and unconventional applicant!
I tried to keep this as short as possible but i have FAILED! Sorry.
