Executive MBA for career transition?

The question is not EMBA vs. full-time MBA. As you noted for whatever reason, the shipped has sailed on the latter.

The question is whether an EMBA (taking into account the cost and time) is better than lateral recruiting in your current position. I would argue the EMBA gives you a better shot. The connections you make, the additional branding, and the access to campus recruiting resources (during the program and after) can only be of help. It also just gives you another element on your resume to use a talking point to justify your career move. If you don't get the EMBA, you will have to network really hard and possibly do a lot of legwork to expose yourself to your desired career industry/role in investment consulting or management. That might end up being more difficult and elongated.

Setting all the cost, time, etc. aside, you can also view the EMBA as a great learning experience! You'll have a wonderful time meeting others and reflecting on who you are and want to become as a business person.
