Incorrect. It is not "her veterinarian" who is fearing another visit.
(B) she persuaded her veterinarian to treat her cat at her home, the cat being a rather combative two-year-old black male
Incorrect. "being a rather..." should be close to "her cat".
(C) Jessica persuaded her veterinarian to treat her cat, a rather combative two-year-old black male, at her home
Correct, nice appositive.
(D) Jessica persuaded her veterinarian that her rather combative two-year-old black male cat would best be treated at her home
Incorrect. Persuadate to or into, not that.
(E) she persuaded her veterinarian that her home should be the place that her rather combative two-year-old black male cat was treated at
Incorrect. "was treated at" doesn't make any sense. Persuadate to or into, not that.

The source of this SC is Kaplan GMAT 800 2008-09 edition. The OA is C. But the logic provided for rejecting B is extremely feeble -"who is she?" - which could be argued against by "who is Jessica?"

This sentence contains two modifier challenges:
the introductory clause marks one modifier and the final clause (a rather combative...) marks another.
As the sentence stands, the initial modifier is what's known as a dangling modifier; there is no subject in the sentence that it can modify. Knowing that you need the name of whoever fears this trip to follow the modifier, you can eliminate (A), (B), and (E).
She in (B) is unacceptable because the sentence doesn't tell you who "she" is. Both (C) and (D) correctly place the second unflattering modifier next to cat, but (D) is certainly wordier .
That leaves (C).

B is out for two reasons...
1) Ofcourse it is better to have a name rather than a pronoun... so jessica would be the correct choice if everything else is same...
2)the cat being a rather combative two-year-old black male is much more wordy than concise a rather combative two-year-old black male...
