I'm a beginner level Mandarin and French speaker. I'm looking to really improve at both. Does anyone have any suggesions as to self-study materials or an efficient learning method? I know there are a lot of materials out there, but I know not all of them are effective. I'm working through Fluenz now, but I it will run its course soon. Thanks for any suggestions!

Can you afford going to China and study there for a couple of months? And then to France/Quebec to do the same? That would be the best.

As much as I'd like to do that, I can't take off from work for two months! That's why I'm looking for self-study methods that others have had success with.

have you tried rosetta stones? I personally haven't but have heard from friends that it's a pretty good software.
