Congrats, lanter1! I became a father this past February and the whole experience of fatherhood is just amazing. Just make sure that you pay enough attention to the mother of your child (and there is never "enough", believe me) - this will be remembered long afterwards everything else is forgotten.

Thanks, I am already noticing this and the next eight months will be a different experience.

true...my wife bought me two books...needless to say, I kept thinking about the movie Knocked Up and how they will not be read until the application process is over.

Congratulations Lanter!

We have a 3 y/o daughter and expecting one more in February. Not to discourage you at all from app process, but I have postponed my mba plans to 2009.

My wife's friends were kidding around that second year is the perfect time for her to get pregnant...she can have a kid just as a graduate with a nice big salary. Then my wife can quit her job and become a stay at home mom.

Did you make mention in your essays?

About your new baby, that is.

YES...I have changed all of my essays and even left a school off my list due to the new change. My priorties and desire for an MBA has completely changed and they need to know how I feel now. This child will be a major part of my life during the process, and I want the school's to know that.

At a Duke event, one of the reps told me that it's amazing how many couples leave campus with their first newborn...maybe it's not so bad.

Congratulations to you :)

Becoming a father will certainly bring you special feeling as you embrace your own nescant, fragile being...

Agree with one post that you should pay much attention to the mother of your child, because (as I am also a girl) to a woman, even a subtle care but at a right time means a lot ... it will empower her to overcome whichever ...

You had some typos in your writeup. I fixed them for you:

My wife's friends were talking in an entirely serious fashion about how that second year is the perfect time for her to get pregnant...she can have a kid just as I graduate with a nice big salary. Then my wife can quit her job and become a stay at home mom. I think this was a joke but I'm in for a surprise.

My wife has been saying similar things....

This is funny. Im 30 now, and part of the reason I would want to go full time is I hear the second year is a perfect time to start a family. I cant see that happening if I go part time, for the next 3-4 years - PT MBA and a full time consulting job will already be way more than i can handle.
