I think American is higher ranked, but will definitely be more expensive. I actually went to George Mason undergrad and my gf went to American so let me know if you want some info on the area.

I'm currently attending Mason and I am in the undergraduate Finance program.
The undergraduate finance and accounting programs are well respected. However, I am not to sure about the graduate program. I do know the university as a whole is growing tremendously and becoming far more selective every year. Moreover, the graduate programs such as law and economics are nationally renowned. As for the MBA program, I am not too familar with it, but I have heard some good things.
Historically speaking, American is more known. Though I may have a bias for George Mason, it is definitely worth looking into.
Let me know what you're trying to find out about George Mason and I can get ALL the information for you within the coming days. As I am on campus regularly over the summer.
