Hi all,
I am hoping someone can help me here with the strategy I need to take to improve my GMAT score, specifically verbal in the next 20 days.
I have taken GMAT twice so far.
First attempt:
Study time: about 3 weeks
Materials used: read through the KAPLAN GMAT premier main book for both Maths and Verbal and did the test without much practicing.
Scores result: Verbal: 8 - 1%, Quants: 42-50%, Total: 400
Second attempt:
Study time: about 3.5 weeks (with a gap of 5 months)
Materials used: reviewed the KAPLAN GMAT premier book for the concepts, and for practice I did almost all the questions in
the Official Guide Verbal Review and
OG Quants Review two books. I also used the GMAT Prep software to take diagnostics tests twice.
Scores result: Verbal: 23 - 31%, Quants: 47-67%, Total: 580
I have registered to take my next (and final) GMAT in the next 20 days and aiming to get 700.
I am not a native speaker and verbal is my weak point. I am pretty slow in reading comprehension and in order to make sure I don't run out of time so I can do the CR and SC questions, I tend to pass through the reading comprehension questions by just guessing them, and as a result my score has been quite low.
In terms of CR and SC I can do relatively ok but my overall speed is again low.
In Maths I find most of the questions pretty easy as I have maths/engineering background but sometimes when the adaptive questions become hard, I tend to write formulas and go through the longer path to solve the questions and I again run out of time.
Could you please help me advise on what strategy I need to take to improve my verbal score specifically and my maths a little?
Is it feasible to improve the score by around 120 points in the next 20 days? Has anyone had similar experience as mine before? Any advice in terms of strategy of studying as well as recommended materials will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
