Good morning everybody from Germany,
at first I have to thank you for this great forum and all the tips and experiences you share here. It gave me hope to reach my target score from 700. But nevertheless I think i have to delete this from my brain. So, I think I first have to tell you some things about my preparation and situation so far:
- Started preparing in Januar (just looking around this forum, reading some posts, or went to other websites to get an impression about the GMAT - as you can see, it is my first attempt)
- Downloaded GMATPrep in February to really start to look what the test looks like and took my first prep test (430 overall -.-) I was really disappointed about that because I thought I would score a little higher. The 700 Score target went faaar away.
- After this test and some more information sessions on the internet I purchased the Manhattan Complete Guide (13th edition) and in the weeks afterwards I worked through all the books - meaning I read through them, took notes and did almost all excercises. Even there, I did many mistakes.
- When I was reading the last 2 books of this Manhattan Guides I ordererd the
OG 12th Edition (got it very cheap from ebay and thought this version will work). Till last week, I worked on this one and gave every question a try (timed with 2 min per quant question and 1:45 per Verbal question). Also made an
Error log but the results are still very disappointing --> PS=83% correct, DS=61% correct, RC,CR, SC all about 50% correct. Although this might sound that bad, I have to admit that most correct questions were the ones from the beginning of these chapters, so to say the easier ones. I dont know really what my problem is. I timed everything and really concentrated on them. Verbal might be that hard because I am not a native speaker but anyway, I hoped to score a little higher.
But all this doesnt help now :D Have to get through it... and the GMAT is coming nearer next week Sunday (19.04.)
I had to take this date because I have to start my Bachelor thesis from the 17.04. onwards and i did not want to have to study for both of these. Therefore i have to give it a try now to be able to apply for Business school right afterwards (Deadlines are mostly till mid of May here). So there are exactly 11 days left now. This weekend, I also purchased the GMATClub 3-Month access to get some new questions to work on (Did 6 Quant CATS: Scores from 37-47 what is also not very good). And I took the first GMATprep Test again (so resetted the results and did it with the same questions) and scored just 570 (Q44, V27) this weekend. So this is still far away from my dream score 700
I am very concerned about how to learn now and to try to get the best out of this situation.
I have 11 days left now and almost everyday is planned to learn. I hope that you have some tips and advices for me how to improve my score a little bit (or even more of course
).
Should I keep on taking the CATS from GMATClub (+sharp review) or work again through the
OG (by the way, is the 12th edition okay?)? Or even do the
Manhattan books again? By the way, I never really did anything about the AWA and IR Section. I think this also needs some review :S
I really hope that you can help me because I feel not very self-confident at the moment
Some tips about what to learn best and how would mean everything to me!
Many thanks in advance and I am looking forward to hearing from you
