Hi Razween,

If you took just one CAT before this second attempt at the GMAT, AND it was a CAT that you had already taken AND you skipped the Essay, then we simply cannot rely on that score as a realistic measure of your skills. Since your two Official Scores are so similar, there are likely a number of other factors that would need to be 'fixed' in order for you to score higher on Test Day. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score higher. Unfortunately, "your way" of studying leads to a score in the mid-500s, so you're likely going to need to invest in some new materials, learn/practice some new Tactics and change your overall approach to this whole process.

1) What is your goal score?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?

Hi Razween,

With a September Test Date, you have plenty of time to study and improve. Given that you've put in some study time already, there's a good chance that you could hit your score goal in less time than that, BUT you will have to make the necessary changes to how you 'see' (and respond to) the GMAT.

With your two Official Scores, you have a great opportunity to pick up points in BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. There are also a variety of different score combinations that will get you to a 650+, so we just have to find you your missing points in the easiest areas for YOU.

1) What type of study routine can you commit to during a typical week?
2) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
3) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

Hi Razween,

I think that both your score goal and list of Schools are realistic, so we just have to make sure that you continue studying in the proper way. Right now, there are clearly some inconsistencies and 'missing pieces' in how you study, which is why you scored 550 and 530 in your prior attempts at the GMAT. At this point, little mistakes are hurting your score far more than permutation, combination and probability questions are.

Based on everything that you’ve described, I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Total Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients complete that Study Plan in well under 2 months, so the time commitment would fit your schedule perfectly. We have a variety of free resources on our site (www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an Account.

If you have any additional questions, then you can feel free to contact me directly.

It is obvious just from your post that your biggest weakness is your verbal. Not the permutation or probability. The higher you go in a category, the less of a return you get in your total score. So the easiest way to get to the 600+ land is to focus on verbal. Your practice tests seem to accurately gauge your quant skill but not the verbal so there is something going on there. What parts of the verbal are you having trouble with? Sentence correction? You need to get your verbal into the mid 30's.
One thing that you can do is practice your verbal skills in real life. When writing or speaking English, remember what you have studied it and correct your writing and speaking as you go.

Sounds to me as if you are too busy to devise and follow a study plan. If I were you I would get a GMAT tutor to help you. You need a huge jump in score as I'm sure you are aware. Getting a tutor to point you in the right direction will get your momentum going.
