GMAT success story [#permalink] New post 05 May 2014, 23:10
Sup guys,

Current accepted MD/MBA candidate required to take the GMAT. The school where I'm doing the MBA did not require a high score, so I did not study until recently. I basically followed the advice of a forum I saw online, and per that forum, I bought the official guide, sentence correction, critical reasoning, word translations.

I started seriously studying probably 2 hours a day starting three weeks ago, with intermittent break days in between, as I am still a senior in undergrad so I have midterms and stuff. Took the test this morning and got a 770 (Q 49, V46).

The only thing that really helped was the GMATPrep software that you can get for free, as well as the manhanttan free practice test, in addition to some online GMAT prep stuff by some guy called magoosh? Anyways, just get the official guide, the other books were not useful. I would say do all the problems in the official guide, and make sure you pinpoint weaknesses. I knew my weakness was the quant section, especially the DS questions, as well as work/rate problems. I started at 690 on diagnostic with manhattan, took GMAT prep test 1 a week prior to actual test (got 740), and then did practice questions on the GMATPrep software for the days leading up to the test. Hope this helps you guys.
