Your post states that for SC, the answers just "sound wrong" to you. I hope I am not telling you something you already know, but the GMAT verbal tests only a portion of the elements of grammar in the English language, so it is amenable to a relatively terse systematic study. Most study guides have verbal guides based on this. I managed to improve immensely by studying these systematic guides. The best ones I used were the guides written by Manhattan GMAT. After my study, I would say that for 2/3 of the SC, I did not have to rely on the "sounds wrong" technique.
