Help : admission guidance for PHD [#permalink] New post 20 Aug 2013, 10:23
Hi

I am currently enrolled in an MBA program which will complete in 2014. I am looking for the PHD degree further. Below is my profile:

MBA (2012-2014) :8.7 GPA till 1st year
Work exp (2010-2012) : Analytics domain; IT industry
BTech (2006-2010) in IT: 6.83 GPA
Average extra curricular
Can get the good LOR

I am confused which area to choose for PHD. My work exp revolves around Analytics. My MBA is general management. My interest in Business analytics side. But i am not able to find any good college offering Phd in this field. I have also looked on PHD in Information system, PHD in Business Management field. It looks relevant to my interest and my previous experience. But I am not sure about it.

Could any one please suggest me which are the good colleges and area where i can apply according to my profile.
And also please suggest which exam to give GMAT or GRE

Thanks in Advance.

often we think that we are good at a phd based on our interest: this is true on one hand. On the other hand is important two things: what is your proposal and whether it fits at the best with the program proveided by a university. the scenario changes completely.

I do not think business information system is a good choice since the area has been declining in popularity among students, because the business information system students are less preferable comparing with computer science students, and therefore less demand for Phds. Also, I remember reading an article earlier this year mentioning the closure of MIS department at the university of central florid and anticipating a steady decline in the number of students majoring in business information system or MIS.
