What are your thoughts on the accuracy of manhattan CATs?

I'd just like to bump this one up there. Any comments on the MGMAT vs. thr actual?

BTW, MGMAT states this on their website:

NOTE: On April 23, 2007, at 6 pm EDT, our CAT scoring algorithm was RECALIBRATED based on data gathered since the launch in November, 2006. The purpose of this recalibration was to provide a CLOSER MATCH between CAT performance and GMAT performance. Our analyses showed that on average, our verbal subscore was moderately overshooting the GMAT, particularly at the high end. As a result of the recalibration, this overshoot and high-end skew has been corrected. (The quant subscore had less of an issue but has also been slightly recalibrated.)

GMATPrep is the official practice test provided by the GMAC. You are allowed to download the software from here: https://www.mba.com/mba/TaketheGMAT/ToolsToHelpYouPrepare/GMATPrepProducts/FreeGMATPrepTestPreparationSoftwarein2006.htm once you have registered for the test.

GMAT prep was way off for me, both the times I took the GMAT.

GMAT Prep 1: 610
GMAT Prep 2: 620
Manhattan GMAT 1: 640
Manhattan GMAT 2: 640
Manhattan GMAT 3: 630

GMAT: 650

GMAT Prep 1: 680
GMAT Prep 2: 670
Manhattan GMAT 4: 700
Manhattan GMAT 5: 650

GMAT: 710

It seems that it's just me that my GMAT Prep scores are below my actual score. I usually took the GMAT Prep 2 test 1 week before the actual GMAT, so there can't me that much variation? Whatever it is, I'm glad my actual scores were higher than the GMAT Prep! :)

GMATPrep1: 640
GMATPrep2: 680 (a week before the actual test)

GMAT: 680

I would say that the score is fairly accurate

GMATPrep1 : 600 (the first time i took it i didn't know where to look for the score, so i skipped over it on accident after i took it... and for like 30 minutes i was looking for the score but all it would show me was which questions i got wrong! ) but i got a lot wrong and i remember seeing 6_ _
GMATPrep2 : 700

GMAT: 720

the first one was just... whoa, it was my first time taking any sort of computerized test so it was a feeler. the 2nd one seemed pretty accurate.

I took my first GmatPrep CAT a few weeks ago and got 610.
I studied some more and took an MGMAT CAT yesterday and got a 700.

I, however, will get extended time on the actual test and took my MGMAT CAT with that extra time, whereas GmatPrep didnt let me do that....I guess that accounts for such a drastic difference.

just curious why you are getting extra time? a 610 is a kinda high score for someone with a learning disabilty, no?

They are not really accurate. The sw that comes closest to the REAL GMAT is GMAT-Prep provided by GMAC.

that's what I'm aiming for right now... hopefully I get a higher score than my recent GMAT Practice scores

GMATPrep1 - 770(!)
GMATPrep2 - 710(?!)
PowerPrep1 - 710
PowerPrep2 - 750 (?!)

I'm just very confused. GMAT this Friday, will report it when I get that done.

GMATPrep 1 - 690 (1.5 weeks before test day)
GMATPrep 2 - 710 (a few days before test day)

Actual GMAT - 750 (July 31 2007).

I know the PowerPrep was pretty accurate 'cause I couldn't make myself get focused on the Verbal Section while I was getting prepared. So, when at the real test I scored rather well on Verbal, and a bit worse than usually on Quant (nerves, I guess). Quant - 48, Verb - 44.
