How long does it take to write essays? [#permalink] New post 30 Oct 2012, 20:55
I am giving my GMAT very soon. I would like to know how long does it generally take to complete MBA applications.
How many months should I allocate for this?

I plan on applying to 7 schools in the top 25. My guess is that the first 2 schools would take longer than applying to the rest of the schools?

Thanks a lot.

I would budget 3 months to do 7 applications.

Thanks a lot Bryant. I have my GMAT exam in the 1st week of December. I am scoring a 640-660 and I am aiming to get a 700+ which I feel is easily doable by early December.

Most round 2 deadlines are in January. Some are in December but I don't think I can get in an application by then in my opinion.
I am trying to see how many applications I can get in for the 2nd round.

I'd rather focus fully on my GMAT, get it out of the way and then focus completely on applications vs trying to juggle both.
What do you think is a realistic number?

Is applying in round 3 generally a bad idea?

Thanks a lot.

indeed applying in R3 is generally a bad idea unless you really bring something out of the ordinary to the table. You should see if you can get at least a couple of applications in for R2. Having said that, applications almost across the board are generally down this year, so R3 may not be quite as challenging as it typically is.
