My answer would still be the same.

No matter what, I am going to B-School. I did not sacrifice so much just for x amount of money.

I'm also really looking forward to school. Making a lot of money isn't the only reason I'm going to school, I am looking forward to the experience, and to actually learning, but my main goal is to graduate with greater earning power, so give me $500,000 and I'd easily walk away.

I suppose for those planning to go into i-banking (and planning to beat the odds of most i-bankers, i.e. not burning out after a couple years and leaving the industry, actually sticking around to make huge huge salaries) that greater riches lie ahead.

Wow, that is dedication and drive. I can say for 800K I would walk. Jay you are telling me if someone walked up to you and opened a brief case with 2 mil. in it you would not take it and walk away. I find that hard to believe. This is almost like a game we play with the drunks at the bar where I tend. It is would do X for $Y? i.e. " Would you sleep with 300lbs, ugly, smelly girl for 10K? and then keep going up. It is funny how everyone has a different approach to the game. Some answer realistically and other are just plain lying. I would love to meet someone who would not wax it with a girl for 10 mil. If you are here please tell me!

I'd do almost anything for $10mil I think

It's interesting to point out tho, even tho I would "give up" bschool for a large sum of money, I would want to go even more if I win the lottery.

That's because it would be so useful in learning about investments and how to run your own company etc. with $20mil + mba I think one can achieve a whole lot!

I knew it all along. :-D

Honestly, I would walk away with a cool $1 mil and use the cash to finance a PHD of LLM instead, maybe both. 800K just wouldn't quite be enough.

2 million x 5% year = 100 grand = realizing my vision of being an "unemployed person with quite good living standards". Maybe become an ad honorem teacher or professor.

Cheers. L.

and the rest on living expenses as I sail round the world :-D

Isn't that essentially what I'm doing when I sign up for an IB career? 8-)
So I guess the answer is 'yes'

sometimes I get confused and think "is it really worth it to just spend 2 years of my life doing an MBA at harvard or wharton even though I get full scholarship ?"

Is this some kind of weak attempt at bragging?

Tonight is the powerball...40+ million would be enough that if I won I wouldn't even think about school.

I checked out some of his other posts and I don't think he's bragging - I think he's grammar challenged. I don't believe he's applied yet.

I think what he's trying to say is I don't know if I'd go "even if I get a full scholarship" rather than what he wrote "even though I get full scholarship".

Bragging ?!!! :o I barely have a 600 GMAT with no WE and nothing whatsoever .. I'll be glad if ANY MBA program accepts me

Full scholarship at harvard ? in my dreams ..

It's just a hypothetical question .. nothing more .. nothing less
I was assuming: what if something magical happened and wharton offered me a full scholarship at their MBA program .. is such an opportunity cost of spending two more years studying rather than getting a work experience worth it ?

I guess that's just because I'm not sure about the value of an MBA ..
