how did you know that the left angle is x degree?

I understood the 180-2x and 180-4x.

Another easy way out:

Angle BDC is an Exterior angle of the triangle BAD. And in any traingle exterior angle is equal to the sum of the interior opposite angles. Hence

BDC = BAD + ABD
2x = x + ABD
=> ABD = x
Hence triangle BAD is isoceles
=> AD = BD = 6
