Hi, I like to know what is the proper way GMAT treats I vs me when used after "than".

i.e.
1) he's smarter than me/I
2) he runs faster than me/I do

I read multiple sources online and they seem to conflict with each other. So what is the proper way?

Under those situation u provided According to Kaplan premier (2007), and Kaplan courses one should use "I" in GMAT.
I agree with that.

lets look this way:

1) "he's smarter than me am" or "he's smarter than I am".
Select the correct one; obviously "he's smarter than I am" is correct one.

similarly:
2) "he runs faster than me do" or "he runs faster than I do". again later is better.

The original sentences were in ellipsis form. Short expression is called ellipsis.

1) "he's smarter than I" and "he's smarter than I am" are same. the first one is ellipsis.
2) "he runs faster than I" and "he runs faster than I do" are same. the first one is ellipsis.

Good stuff. I've always thought "he's smarter than me" is correct, but I guess I was wrong.
