Re: Is it advisable to get an MBA from a school without a rank [#permalink]
Like everyone else has said so far, it really depends upon your industry and function. At my current company (smaller, private) I could move all the way up to a marketing exectuive with a no-name MBA. However if I want this same career path at a top-tier company then I'll need a highly recognized/ranked MBA.

I'll also add: It seems to me that most of the people that I know that have no-name MBAs and good job got the no-name MBA as an "add-on". They already had the skills to perform and the MBA was something extra.

For people who are looking to switch jobs, a no-name MBA would get me no-where because I have no work-experience to compensate.

I think it depends on what you want to do with your career. Do you want to stay in the same company forever? Is there a school nearby that the company will pay for you to attend? Then yes, it might make sense. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it. I would buckle down and get a really good GMAT score so that I have more flexibility in which school I could attend and more flexibility later in my career when I might be looking for new opportunities.
