Is it possible to improve from 590 to 670 in a month?! [#permalink] New post 13 Sep 2012, 18:51
Everybody was telling me that GMAT is a hard exam but still I decided to be an optimist and made an appointment for October 18th.
Today was my second week of preparation and I decided to take a diagnostic test to see how well I'm doing.
The result is, I'm not doing that well at all - I got 590 on the GMAT Prep. (V31, Q41)
Now I have only 33 days to go with my preparation and I'm completely panicking out here.
The fact that I'm not a native speaker makes the things even worse.
I need at least 600 to get into my school of choice, but still I wanted to get somewhere between 650 and 670, just to be sure.
Is it possible to increase my result from 590 to 670 in a month ?!
Could you recommend any particular study strategy for situations like this one?

Thanks a lot :)

It is possible but it depends on a few things:

1) How much studying you have put in (the further you are in, the harder it gets to improve)
2) What materials you have used
3) How much time you have (quality time, not 10 PM after a bar type of thing)
4) How much effort you can put in

So... if you have just 33 days, I would grab the Kaplan Premier book and run with that (as I don't think you have enough time to cover MGMAT or Veritas Prep books). If you can go through the Kaplan Premier, I would grab Kaplan Math workbook and Kaplan Verbal workbook too (and do whichever you struggle the most with quant/verbal).

Finally, if you can pick up a copy of the MGMAT Roadmap - I highly recommend it to anyone. It is a book for after the bar ;)

Good luck!
