Is it worth applying ? [#permalink] New post 21 Dec 2005, 22:16
Hello Linda,
Would really appreciate your feedback on whether I stand a chance of an admit at these schools, given my profile

Age: 31

Work experience: 8 Years in the IT field

GMAT: 710 (Q 51 99%, V 34 72%) overall 94%

UnderGrad GPA : 4.00 (Good School in India)

Masters GPA : 3.36 (Top 15 U.S School)

Should be able to come up with good essays and recommendations.

I am really interested in getting into either Wharton, Duke or Darden

Will my GMAT verbal pose a problem ? Should I retake or concentrate on my essays?

Thank you!

Your verbal score is on the low side but it's close enough to where it on its own will not keep you out. On the other hand, you come from a very competitive sub-group among applicants. So while you do have a competitive profile for Wharton, Darden, and Duke, if you can submit 2-3 additional applications, that would be wise.

Good luck!

Linda,
Thank you for your advise. Can you please mention some other schools that I should be looking at. I am a Virginia resident and and prefer schools on the East Coast and MidWest (Chicago).

Thanks!

Linda

Thank you for your interest

The area that I am really interested in is IT and Tech Strategy. In particular, I want to join the local / state /Federal offices. I have worked with them before as a consultant and won awards for my work. An MBA will equip me with skills to participate in policy and decision making at a higher level than before.

Hope that helps

Thanks again

Consider in addition to the ones you already mentioned CMU, Michigan, UNC, Georgetown, and Yale.

Good luck!
