That is odd. I've given Kudos before and I no longer see the Kudos button.

I've logged out and logged back in. Kudos button is still missing. Am I missing something? I am using Chrome and WinXP.

On that token, I switched to Internet Explorer and I see the Kudos button. But in Chrome, the button is missing in the gap where it used to be in IE. I hover my mouse above the gap and it is clickable (Kudos functionality works, but is not displayed). I am guessing it is an ad-blocker or a Chrome issue?

I can see the Kudos button in out of the box Google Chrome. Therefore, it might be some add-on you're using.

This is due to the following:
*you have a very small number of comments;
*not many users found your posts valuable.

the best way to estimate the value of your contribution is to calculate the kudos/posts ratio.
In may case it is 24% = 229/969 while in your case it is 12%=4/33.
That means that out of 4 of my comments only a user found it to be useful for him or her.

Re: Kudos - what are they and why we have them [#permalink]
We had an idea of putting the Kudos button below the post, but then decided otherwise. The reason for our decision was the fact that majority of posts are short posts and generally the author information on the left gets more attention than the bottom part under the post.

Thank you for the suggestion though.

Stupid thought on Kudos - can it not be at the bottom with the PM / Profile links versus above? I can only decide on kudos upon reading a post - the scroll back up is silly/tough?

We have so many good threads - thank you for finding this one.
We'll post stats for the most Kudos (I feel we should have overall top as well the top kudos for the month). We'll pull them for June, July, and then for August.

I like the ideas about the ranks, though we already ranks. Perhaps we have icons of some sort instead.... or an additional rank/word... something to play with

I think rank names along with icons will be better...After all nobody will know what is the meaning of that image unless you describe it somewhere ?

If I was the new member, I would be too lazy to find the meaning of the image...But when I see the icon and rank name are different for every person, I will be checking the meaning of these out of curiosity......
CURIOSITY really helps us ALL 8-)

I am trying to see if you can take the Kudos system to the next level where it will be really meaningful to all the community members rather than the Top-20.

One logical suggestion - Once users are ranked based on Kudos, you can also display the number of expert replies at the top of the thread - It will be really helpful then.

Can you explain a bit more what you mean by this?

Ok - Simple - I am illustrating with an example. It should help.
You can set a user with say 200 kudos as an Expert.
Now when any user starts a new topic and there are 4 replies from some experts.
You can mention at the top of the topic - 4 expert replies

Scenario - 1 : User starting the new topic is not an expert - Same as above
Scenario - 2 : User starting the new topic is an expert -

Scenario - 2.1 : Recognized expert(Who are with or own test prep. companies) - This will be mostly challenges/tricks/leanings - You can check with them if they want to be in scenario 1
Scenario - 2.2 : Recognized expert(who are self-experts) - This will be the mostly common scenario. Let us brainstorm on this.

Assumption -1 : The expert replies should not change based on time, but should be based on the points/kudos that the user has at that point of time. Because the system will be self-evolving, so when a user becomes an expert - He will be an SME then.

Best Practice -1 : You can classify users as SC/CR/RC/Quant experts - That will be really cool then. Because the right persons will answer and data shown will not be misleading. You can display the minimal information on the left side example - Total kudos, experts(SC/CR/...)

Let me know if this is not clear now.
