Low GMAT score, first try [#permalink] New post 28 Apr 2004, 04:58
I took my GMAT yesterday and received a disappointing score of 490. :( I plan to retake GMAT in the next couple of months. Do I still have a chance of getting into the MBA program? I am not looking at top 10 schools. I have a good undergrad GPA and 7 years of good working experience. I need above 600 to get into the program I am interested in. What effect does a low score on the first GMAT test make on the admission process?

Most programs take your highest score and ignore lower scores, especially if it's not the most recent. I have seen people score 100 points higher on the GMAT. The schools clearly looked at the higher one along with all the other usual factors and accepted the applicant. The lower one didn't appear to have any impact.

Good luck!
