Hi Bunnel,

Could you please explain, why on combining both equations, the non-integer alternatives do not exist?

(1) says that x - y is integer and (2) says that x + y is integer. So, x^2 - y^2 = (x - y)(x + y) = integer*integer = integer.

Hope it's clear.
