Is the cost of living in LA substantially higher than in Bloomington?

What about safety?, is there a higher concern of safety at USC?

Which one tends to have more social (I don't just mean drinking) and personal developmental opportunities?

The campus of USC is generally considered to be safe and well-patrolled.

I think it is safe to say that the COL in Bloomington is quite a bit lower than the average for Los Angeles. However, keep in mind that LA is a large metro area so with careful searching you can find some good housing bargains.
