MBA Tax Deductable/Employer Assistance? [#permalink]
12 Aug 2011, 11:57
So this semester, my tuition is $8096.50. My employer is paying $6000 and I am on the hook for the remaining $2096.50. How do I write this off on my taxes?

My employer treats this type of income as taxable and it will show up on my W2. The only exception to this is if the MBA classes are a requirement to do my job. As I want to complete an MBA program to move up the corporate ladder, it is not a requirement and therefore it is taxable.
Perhaps your company handles the tax portion differently.

You probably want to read this thread: mba-tuition-can-be-tax-deductible-keep-an-eye-on-it-88954.htmlAnd I suggest you continue the discussion there. I will lock this thread.
