Hi,
I saw a discussion on an Indian MBA forum about MBA schools in India that place well into Investment Banking (and related industries) aside from the obvious ones and it didn't really garner much attention there, so I'm wondering if people over here can answer this, because I'm curious about this as well. The author claimed that "obvious" schools for banking placement are: IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, and ISB, so I wanted to first off confirm if those are truly the gold standard for Banking placement (subtract or add schools in this Tier 1 category) and what else can give you a shot at banking? My guess is that it would go something like (in order from best to worst in each tier):
Tier 1:
IIM-A, IIM-C, IIM-B
Tier 2:
ISB, XLRI, FMS
However, I am curious about where else one can go outside of those schools, if all those schools even place, what the best and worst schools of those that place are, etc. so can someone help me sort this out?
Finally, and this is a much simpler question, is banking in India solely in Bombay, or would Delhi and maybe Bangalore and all also have banking? I know 95% of it is probably in Mumbai and Mumbai is the financial capital of India, but are there other cities with a presence in banking?
Thanks a lot and please help!
What do you mean by banking ?
(1) Traditional investment banking : M&A, PE
(2) Global Markets : Sales & Trading
(3) Support Roles
(4) Research Roles & Quantitative Groups
Depending on which one of those you are after, the answer to the questions will be different
