They are both fine.

when using native as a noun, it is native of

on the other hand, when using as an adj, it is native to.

for example,

They are natives of Britain. natives = noun, therefore, "of" follows.

They are native to Britain. native = adjective, therefore, "to" follows.

native of vs. native to [#permalink]
On the example below, should we use "are native to" that is para// to "were introduced" or " are natives of" ?
I have a difficulty to distinguish between "native to" as verb and " a native of" as an adj. Both seem to be correct idioms

Bufo marinus toads, fierce predators that will eat frogs, lizards, and even small birds, are native to South America but were introduced into Florida during the 1930s in an attempt to control pests in the states vast sugarcane fields.

A. are native to South America but were introduced into Florida during the 1930s in an attempt to control

B. are native in South America but were introduced into Florida during the 1930s as attempts to control

C. are natives of South America but were introduced into Florida during the 1930s in an attempt at controlling

D. had been native to South America but were introduced to Florida during the 1930s as an attempt at controlling

E. had been natives of South America but were introduced to Florida during the 1930s as attempts at controlling

Re: native of vs. native to [#permalink]
I guess:

"native to" is used for animals, insects, trees etc.
"native of" is used for human beings.

going by that, I choose A.

Re: native of vs. native to [#permalink]
2. An invasion of alien attackers is attempting to take control of the world. If the attackers can take control of Asia, they will then also control Europe. If they can control Europe, they will control Africa. They will not get control of South America unless they first control both Asia and Africa. If they control Asia, Africa, and South America, they will control North America.

According to the above argument, which of the following statements can be concluded if the attackers control both Asia and Africa?

(A) The attackers also control South America. (B) The attackers also control North America. (C) The attackers also control Europe.

(D) The attackers do not control North America.

(E) The attackers do not control South America.
