Not Applying Anytime Soon, But...[F/27/Engineer]

Sorry if this might not be the right place, but I'm really considering either a US or UK business school.
Short summary of my life:
- I am a 27 yo with only 1 year work experience so far in manufacturing, my position is as a supply planner for the entire production and sales team
- My work involves a lot of responsibilities and I answer to the higher ups (CEO, Directors, etc.)
- I studied Chemical Engineering in college, from a no name college in Michigan, with cGPA of 3.49 (it's a bit low)
- I currently reside in SE Asia, and come in contact regularly with foreign nationalities for my job (colleagues, other companies, etc.)
I don't plan on applying in the next 2 - 3 years. My main concern is, I am interested solely for the fact that I've been involved a lot in business talks with upper management and I would like to take a step further in terms of career advancement. If I can get corporate sponsor (I hear it's possible!), that'd be golden. My question is, should I bother at all and start preparing for GMAT?
Side note: I've taken standardized tests before and did OK (GRE, MCAT, and Fundamentals of Engineering). I believe I will at least not bomb the GMAT.
Thank you so much for reading and responding!
