It's true that admissions committees like to see applicants keep the number of attempts to 3 or less, but if it took you 5 times to get the score that made you competitive, then all sins are forgiven. It's theoretically possible that if adcoms were comparing you to another identical applicant who'd taken the GMAT only once, you might lose out because of your number of retakes, but it's extremely unlikely that the number of GMAT retakes would be the deciding factor in any admission decision.
