Here's why; the test is a Computer Adaptive Test. Basic thing about computers is, we know they follow their program. A program designed to home in on a level of intelligence and aptitude will necesarily follow a progressive sequence of questions, which by definition means that the answers to the intial questions will determine the range for future questions, and so the earlier in the test, the more important the answer will be. Yes, it is theoretially possible to miss a question early, then come back and get a higher score than someone who gets the first question right, if someone answers the same number of questions right as another person, statistically speaking the person who answered more right out of the first five will have a higher score. Otherwise, the program could not operate as the CAT is said to do.

I have the OG 11th ed too, and I've seen that. I don't have it in front of me, but if I remember correctly, it is worded to discourage you from putting all your effort into the first 10 questions. Like others have said, due to the "adaptive"nature, I would say that the results of questions that you see earlier in the test affect the level that you will be tested at more than the latter questions.
