I just took my GMAT and scored a very disappointing (to me) 680 with Q42 and V41 and 8 IR. I am extremely disappointed in my quant score. I'm really at quite a loss for what to do at the moment. I have already rescheduled for another exam on August 24th and signed up for
Magoosh who claim a 50 point increase. While I am not exactly looking for 50 points, I figure at least 20 is good enough for me. Up to my exam, I had been using
OG 2015 in combination with Manhattan and Kaplan.
My practice scores were:
Kaplan diagnostic with no studying 550
6 weeks in. Manhattan: 650 (Q41 V38)
8 weeks in. GMAT Prep 1: 700 (Q45 V41)
9 weeks in. GMAT Prep 2: 730 (Q48 V42)
So after 10 weeks, I was unpleasantly surprised to see a 680 with Q42. I feel like I'm at or around my ceiling in Verbal and I crushed my AWA and IR. I noticed during my actual exam and practice tests that I have a lot of trouble with the timing on quant. I can usually get the answer, but it will take me longer than 2 minutes and I'm left rushing questions and guessing to avoid running out of time.
Is it possible for me to raise my score 20 points in 2 weeks? I'm planning on only focusing on quant. This is more than likely my last opportunity to take the test. I'm a rising senior in university and school is going to make it difficult to completely apply myself to the GMAT unlike utilizing the ~2 weeks I have left of summer vacation. Also, my first application deadline is late October so for all intents and purposes, this is my last shot. I'm looking at schools for a Masters in Finance. I'm a finance major, my GPA is 3.7 and I'm targeting Vanderbilt for EA.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
This is interesting... I took my GMAT this morning, and I got a 680 as well.. Q49 and V34 7 IR and crushed the AWA. we are fairly opposite... I would say that if you truly understand why you're having trouble with quant, then it's very possible.
I've rescheduled as well, I'm quite disappointed in my V34, as I've been studying for about 13 weeks, but I think I understand what my problems were, and it wasn't timing. It was likely knowledge and confidence.
Also, this is what helps me... when i re-take in a few weeks, if I do not improve my score, I'll cancel the score. It doesn't hurt to retake it with additional studying (besides the time and funds.).
Hope this helps,
