Hi,
I am a few years away from applying to an MBA school but I want to understand If I stand a chance or I need to do something
inorder to better my chances of getting in.
My profile:
Undergrad degree = Bsc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes university in the United Kingdom ranked 45th in the league
table
Class = Lower second-class which makes my GPA 3.0/4.0
AGE: 29 (when I apply)
Now the thing is my degree was taken through Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) where we get credit based
on each paper passed in part 2, average percentage of these papers is taken after which you have to submit a thesis for
the final 30 credits.
The reason for my GPA being low is the fact that this qualification is really hard to pass and I pursued it by self studying
(not distant learning) in the middle east due to financial reasons and there are practically no institutes that provide
classes for ACCA in my city.
International experience = I'm from Pakistan but have lived most of my life in the middle east.
As for my experience I just started working in one of the big4 accountancy firms in the middle east as an associate and I do
not plan on applying to an mba school until I reach the level of manager or assistant manager as well as having experience in
the range of 3-5 years that means I still have a few years to go.
Now my question is would being a manager in a big4 firm, 700+ GMAT, my background of self studying to obtain my degree/qualification
and GPA give me a chance to get into top 10 schools like LBS, INSEAD or even harvard to name a few.
