TOPIC : As people rely more and more on technology to solve problems, the ability of humans to think for themselves will surely deteriorate.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the statement and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider ways in which the statement might or might not hold true and explain how these considerations shape your position.

There used to be a time when people had to think and toil by themselves and the physical presence of a person was essentially required for any work to be done. But with the advance of technology everything was made available at the whim and fancy of mankind, even though that didn’t happen with a bang, but gradually. This might lead conservationists to say that the approach of dealing with things the old-school way compelled people to think on their own rather than depending on technology. But I would say on the contrary this has helped man in improving himself in giant leaps rather than holding him down.
The internet is one of the most amazing developments that man has made in his ten thousand years of existence. The ‘world wide web’ has literally helped man to achieve things which would be impossible in the olden days. Any information desired is available at our fingertips! Things can be done in no matter of time. But this necessarily does not mean that it has led man to stop thinking. This will actually help mankind to focus on the larger problems that are posed to us rather than wasting time, which has become very precious in these times, on trivial problems. Hence, as opposed to the point given, I say that this particular advancement in technology has helped man to look upon the bigger mysteries and unknowns that are present.
Another big leap for mankind is the invention of robots. This incredible creation has taken away the need for a person to perform unimportant and menial jobs. This provides an opportunity for the person to ponder upon bigger, more complex things. Difficult operations which are highly difficult for one man to perform or require many men can be carried out by a single machine thanks to developments in the field of robotics! For example, a hundred years ago, it would take months for a group of architects to lay the foundation for a skyscraper. But thanks to the invention of the hydraulic crane this task can be performed in a couple of weeks. So the time and work saved for this task can be spent on a larger task at hand.
Thanks to present day technology, the less important and simpler jobs have been taken off the agenda, giving way to larger, more intense problems to think about. Technology does not necessarily deteriorate the thinking capacity of man but it has given rise to higher intellectual obstacles to ponder about! When one sees the problems of the past like communication or travelling, it has greatly reduced down to a mere inconvenience for a shorter period of time. Though technology does make us not think about issues that have already been resolved and have become obsolete, it has provided us with more intellectually challenging and complex problems.
P.S. I'm just starting out and this is my first essay! some pointers and tips will be gladly appreciated. Thanks you!
