Hi Ganesh--

Business Schools like engineering majors and with a Master's degree, your advanced education will add to the appeal of your profile. You did not provide a lot of detail, so it's difficult to say if you are a viable "top business school" candidate or not. Defining the top schools as the top 15 or so, which have essentially been the same schools for decades, I will say that two years of work experience is going to be on the lighter side. You have to remember that you are not competing against a list of requirements or standards, you are competing against actual people for the coveted and limited slots in these programs, which means there will be countless engineers just like you in the running, but with 3-6 years work experience instead of 2. For this reason, you must be prepared to speak to the extra measure of achievement, innovation, and leadership you have garnered in your two years which will outweigh these other applicants. If you are Indian, I can tell you the applicant pool is very deep, and actually contains the second most number of applicants behind white males from the US. A stellar GMAT score is a must in this category as is a clear and compelling vision for your post MBA career and why now is the ideal time to go back to school.
