You need a stellar experience to make it to top schools and if you are crystal clear of your post MBA goals, then GMAT shouldn't stop you from achieving what you want!

Sudhir's story is an inspiration for people like me with not a high GMAT score.

It aint about winning lottery. .. Its about working hard to build your profile and to get solid quality work experience. Profile should nullify the not so high GMAT score!

Totally agree with you on this, it is just another number in your application. First, it can not be considered as a salary predictor, and second, it can not be a guarantee for a seat at a top B-School. There is no substitute for work history/ experience.

As a follow-up to that 2-year-old blog post, Sudhir completed his MBA from ISB and went on to join a Big-4 firm in a senior (Associate Director) role which is quite different from his pre-MBA role.

So, yeah, he achieved a career change as well.

And (unlike bschools) I don't think his current employer really cared about whether his GMAT score was reflective of his potential :-P

Wondering how your story panned out, Sachin bhai. Would be great to hear.

I agree with Carcass. 'GMAT is just one component is a myth created largely by admission consulting companies. Believe me I speak from my experience at 710 I was rejected by all the top schools and at 750 I made it to an Ivy League. Pretty much nothing else changed in my profile. GMAT score matters a lot unless you have an exotic profile (Olympic medalist, professional model etc) GMAT matters even more for applicants from the subcontinent. Just my 2 cents
