Which of the [[ ]] 's has an error?

By 2025 the United States [[may exhaust its supplies of]] domestic oil and gas and be forced to rely [[even more heavily]] than it already[[has]] on supplies [[imported from]] the Middle East.

the first and the third are wrong.

IMO, the correct version can be:
By 2025 the United States may have exhausted its supplies of domestic oil and gas and be forced to rely even more heavily than it already does on supplies imported from the Middle East.

Another version:
By 2025 the United States would have exhausted its supplies of domestic oil & gas and be forced to rely even more heavily than it already does on supplies imported from the Middle East.

prat - wrong
stolyar - partially correct
vicky - wrong

Prat - i need to work very hard on my "tenses"

Vicks - check your notes...i wrote to you about usage of "would"..

Prat/vicks/stolyar ... we need to know that " have" is present perfect.. the present perfect indicates that something happened and might be continuing to happen

So "have" and " would have" is uncalled for....the "something" has not happened yet.

Ok,that was one mistake
The second mistake was correctly picked by stolyar

United States relies on imported oil (simple present) ...GOOD
United States has relied on imported oil (present perfect) ....BAD

the correct verb is ""does""

I started a thread for essays...why dont we pitch in some ideas..
