Hi,

I scored 630 (Q50 V25) in GMAT exam.
I have 6+ Years of experience and currently designated as Associate Project Manager in an IT Organization.

I work for Insurance domain clients.

I am planning for 1 year MBA program.

Please suggest the suitable colleges

Hi Abhinav,

You are in perfect stage of applying for MBA. As most of the b schools are looking for average 5-6 years of work experience. As your must be knowing that your GMAT score is not very impressive. But a low GMAT Score can certainly be offset by a good/strong application or working hard on your essays.

Could please let me know, which university should i target.

Currently i am thinking of applying to Cranfield University, Warwick Business School, SDA Bocconi School of Management, York University – Schulich School of Business and HEC Montréal.

What are my chances in the above ?

I appreciate your point of concern.
But again giving GMAT to improve score would require atleast 3 more months of preparation.
Then i will miss deadlines of most of the universities and i may have to wait for another 1 year for further education.

Can you please suggest me some other work around.

I will defininetly give re-test, if there are no options left.

That is true. But if you can do better, then it may be worth your while. Consider the following: 1. Bschool is VERY competitive ESPECIALLY amongst Indian candidates 2. You will only do ONE MBA once in your life and it will define the rest of your path.

Of course it will depend on what you would do in the meantime and how old you are, but basically my advice is to retake the GMAT, and apply R1 next year. You are a bit late to get started this year anyhow, and with your relatively low GMAT it's probably better that you take those three months to study.

Abhinav,

Basically for Indian applicants the average GMAT is approximately 40 points above the published score. So, for a school like Warwick with a median GMAT score of 610 you are competitive. If you truly wish to apply this year, you can give it a go during most school’s second round. But if you are waitlisted that is a signal the school(s) wish for you to submit a more competitive GMAT score.

Hi Abhinav
You have a good experience. If you are only interested in 1 year program, then you should target schools in Europe as most US schools have a 2 year MBA. And iIf you are planning to apply for top schools such as INSEAD, Oxford, Cambridge, etc, you should retake GMAT as your score is low for them. A GMAT score of 700+ and a very good application will give you a decent chance to enter at the above schools. LBS program can be completed in 15 months as well. You might want to consider that as well. Good luck.
