Hello Linda. My sincere condolences on your loss.
I would appreciate it if you could give me your opinion considering my candidacy to a couple of European Business Schools.
I am considering to apply to the following schools:
- SDA Bocconi (first choice)
- RSA (Rotterdam)
- Manchester BS
- IMD (dream choice)
My profile would be as follows:
30 year old male
Greek Nationality
4-year BA in English and Greek Literature (University of Athens,Greece) 68% (a grade of more than 80% is rarely awarded in UoA)
MSc in Translation Studies (Grade B)
GMAT: Planning to take it at the end of February - Currently I am in the range of 600 as my Quantitative Skills are not up to the point. I will manage to raise it to the level of 660 (the average GMAT grade of the Italian University students)
I have been practically working all the time since I was 18 but mostly at bars, as a journalist and a freelance translator. The last three years, after I graduated with my Masters Degree I have working experience as a Techical Writer for a software company (financial services sector) while currenlt I am employed by a top-3 lottery services company as a Proposal Writer. I have developed steadily in my Career, had great raises and have excellent recommendations both from employers and professors (I was invited to publish a paper ion an international journal for Internet Marketing Translation)
I understand I am not a typical applicant, therefore your advice would be most illuminating. Please tell me if, in your opinion, I can be a valid applicant for the forementioned schools or I should look into something different.
Thank you very much for your time.
Thank you for your condolences.
For IMD you need a higher than 660 GMAT to have a good chance. You have a competitive chance at the others provided that you can make a good case for needing an MBA. If your goal requires an MBA and your score in the mid-600's on the GMAT with a solid quant score, you should hear good news from at least one of your schools.
BTW
IMDwill be Acceptd.com's guest at a chat on Jan. 18. Please feel free to attend.
Good luck!
