Hi all,
New rankings for this year is out. As you know Business week ranks B schools once in two years. Here are the top 10. Please follow the link to see the complete list.




1 Chicago
2 Pennsylvania (Wharton)
3 Northwestern (Kellogg)
4 Harvard
5 Michigan (Ross)
6 Stanford
7 MIT (Sloan)
8 UC-Berkeley (Haas)
9 Duke (Fuqua)
10 Columbia
11 Dartmouth (Tuck)

This ranking seems consistent with previous ranks and the cluster system.

Ultra elites- All present in 1-7 with the exception of Columbia (10).

Elites- All present in 8-16 with the exception of Michigan (5) and Yale (19). BusinessWeek traditionally favors Michigan and disfavors Yale so this is not much of a surprise.

Transelites- All bunched in the high teens to low 20s with Carnegie Mellon (16) and Emory (23) as bookends

Near Elites- Standard BW ranking with Indiana on top and the usual suspects rounding out the list.

Internationls- As usual, BW provides a ranking of intl. programs that could best be described as a bit odd. None of the TCE schools appear in the top 3 which is dominated by Canadian schools. As many GMATClubbers know, I am a proponent of Canadian MBA programs but it is hard to believe that all three are better than all of the TCE programs including INSEAD and LBS.

The 2007 International rankings from Financial Times are completely different.

1) Wharton
2) Columbia
3) Harvard
4) Stanford
5) London Business School
6) Chicago GSB
7) Insead
8) Stern NYU
9) Tuck
10) Yale

Kellogg is not even in Top 10 schools?

I would look at it this way: oh god, thanks, my school is now in top 3! :-D actually top 2!

In a given year, I dont think someone's chance to get into top 10 changes a lot.
For example, from my perspective i dont care where Chicago will stand in the ranking(no offence to those considering it), whether #1 or #10, if I will have an offer from Stanford, I will definately take it, whether it ranks #1 or #10...

Just because a school receives a few hundred more applications, it wont became competitive in real sense. Of course, there will always be people who apply to a particular school just for the ranking sake, but adcoms are good at spotting it and showing you the door
