I still have to take the TOEFL exam in autumn and I was just wondering if anyone could give me advice what to expect. I've heard that TOEFL is much easier than GMAT Verbal (I scored 38 in GMAT Verbal). I need to score 600 or 250 (computer-based) - is it hard to achieve?

I'm also planning a short preparation (2 weeks max.) - could you recommend me any useful books? Thanks.

Hi likar,

It's my next main step after GMAT. Like u, i have no idea on the level of difficulty of the TOEFL. I need a score of at least 250 as well. I feel that my long journey is far to be completed. ;)
I just hope to conclude the GMAT step with success as u did. By the way, thanks for your inspiring debriefing. :)

I'm very interested about the result of this post :).

Could somebody give us more information about it? :)

Guys,

TOEFL is very easy compared to GMAT verbal. I wrote it last year in the month of Sept. I had literally no time, I went through the Barrons TOEFL over weekend (arrived from Seoul on Friday night at 11:30pm) & wrote on Monday & ended up in 280+ ;)

So, about a week may be enough to score good in TOEFL :) Your GMAT verbal is 38, don't worry man TOEFL is nothing for you...

TOEFL is completely a piece of joke compared to GMAT
I score 107 on ibt TOEFL with 27/30 on reading
but end up with verbal only 13 on 1st attempt in gmat
and 16 on 2nd attempt.

Don't worry about it.
3-4 days preparation would be more than enough 8-)

i don't think 3-4 days will be enough to become familiar with TOEFL.
TOEFL consists of four parts: Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing.
to get a good score you need to practice, take some diag tests.

As most of you said, TOEFL is a silly joke compared with GMAT!! I studied the iBT official guide in a week and I scored 106 (equivelant to 622 on paper based ). Don't worry about it! Just practice and get familiar with speaking to the PC on the mic :), and time management also is important but its not as difficult and tight as GMAT !!

Hey Moza,
Could you confirm how long ETS took to publish the iBT score ?

their FAQ states (approx) 2 weeks from test day ... Today's the 14th day post my test date, and I'm wondering how long they'll make me wait :)

Just want to say that I have concluded with TOEFL... 104 (sadly, with only 20 in speaking... Was my spoken english too fast & full of french accent :p)

I think it's sufficient for any school - they don't seem to be obsessive about TOEFL score, just want to be sure you can communicate.
