Hi Praetorian:
As far as customizable front page is concerned, we can allow users to go and define what they would like to see on the front page of GMATClub. I.e., when they enter
https://www.gmatclub.com, they should be able to add items that interest them or delete items that they find irrelevant. For example, while studying for GMAT, they can add 'widgets' for GMAT preparations, challenges, include only forum topics related to GMAT show up in small widgets (porbably in form of group boxes) on the front page. Once they are done with GMAT, they can recustomize the fornt page to include application related contents - Forum topics related to admissions, Blog management Widgets, RSS feed from BW and other application sites etc. Finally once they matriculate, they can include post admission related widgets.
We in GMAT Club can predefine some widgets like:
- Challenges
- Forum
- Blogs
- Chat
- Personal Shedule for GMAT
- Schedule for admissions
- Essay Topics
- Current Admissions status like admissions 411
- Generic Widgets to read RSS from other sites like BW etc
We can use Javascript (AJAX) and cookies to help create these widgets and allow GMATClub members to customize the page!
P.S: A look place to understand the concept would be customizable Gooogle homepage or Microsoft's Live.com.
Those are some ideas ideas there. thanks for taking the time to explain this to us.
