I'd say skip the MBA Game Pan & How to books. You can get better, more current information just by browsing sites like this one. Paul Bodine's book is a good one, and Montauk's is good as well.

Peli, Montauk's book is the How To book listed above.

While there is lots of good advice on this forum, I found that having an overview (of nearly everything I dealt with during my process) in one place was extremely valuable. I tended to use the forum for advice on specific issues that related just to me: should I use story X or story Y in this essay? Obviously a book can't help with that. Club member accounts of interviews and visits were also helpful.
