I'm here in Charlottesville as well...no pre-matriculation classes for me :) .

I'm moving in to my place tomorrow. About to get really busy with events; I'm looking forward to it.

Been studying for "assessment" tests I have to take on Monday, going to be moving into my new place on Sunday. Then two weeks of Orientation which I guess is probably two weeks of drinking, not quite sure what to expect.

I just finished 2 weeks of Orientation. Most intense 2 weeks I have experienced in my LIFE. Want to see what madness we had to go through?

That's right... classes and 10hr long leadership strategy simulations were part of orientation. I am not ashamed to admit that I actually thought about dropping out of school more than once!

That's pretty hairball. Hang in there, it seems like they are using "shock and awe" tactics to quickly bring you up to speed. We have something similiar, except it last three weeks.

Dying, dying, please help. Dying, dying....must sleep. Must be alone. Cats think I'm dead, haven't seen me in days. Can't write more.

That bad? Darden pre-matric was tough but not too bad - went to a few networking events. We had our class picture and welcome orientation today and tomorrow we start at 8am.

Definitely exciting, lots of work ahead.

Nothing but social events so far for me. Like OasisNYK said, things start in earnest tomorrow morning.

I don't think I have ever done anything that requires more than 10 hours of concentration in a single day..I hope they allowed breaks..
I am not sure how someone with ADHD like myself would have managed going through something like that without taking the first available window.

Ok, I was exaggerating. Orientation was Aug 9-11. Our Summer Term started Aug 13. On the one hand, I feel pretty in control. It's really all about reading, understanding, synthesizing and analyzing, then writing, which I feel pretty comfortable with, seeing as that was all I did in undergrad and continued to do plenty of at work. I'm getting enough sleep and still being quite social (even if my house is a dirty pit and my cats are disowning me), though some friends are not sleeping and feeling pretty freaked.

I wrote that message in the middle of a team meeting, which went on for SIX HOURS. That's by far the hardest adjustment for me. I am more used to being a work cowboy, mostly doing stuff on my own. It's amazing how much energy it takes to be present and productive during these meetings. I could do the write up a whole lot faster myself, but totally recognize that the group input makes the final product much, much better.

That's the whole point of teamwork, eh?

whatever it is, go down on the commons and talk to the gutter punks hanging out at the pavillion. they can most likely hook you up.

One week in and myself and Johnny x9 still have not met. I haven't even thought about who the other Sternies on here are, but I probably have met them.

Chaos. And another week of it to go.

Thats funny - pelihu and I are in the same section at Darden, what do you think the odds are that 2 GMAT Clubbers get in to the same school and end up in the same class?

Two weeks before classes begin and fellow Huskies are already on prowl. A group of 12 of us were moving between three different inside/outside venues last night; starting in Capitol Hill, then eventually heading over to Bellevue. Got back in at 4am this morning, slept about six hours, woke up and had half a dozen new voice mails about getting together this afternoon for an afternoon cruise of the bay before the night life starts all over again... Can't imagine how in the world I'm going to be able to balance this with studies and (later) a family :?:

Did I read that right, you're starting a family? Wow, you are going to be busy.

Yeah, OasisNYK and I are in the same section, so that's pretty cool. There's at least one other GMATClubber, Antapple, here at Darden. He was pretty active during application and decision season, but I haven't seen him around much recently. He recognized me somehow, and introduced himself. Not sure how he knew who I was.
