yeah, it's better to take the BART and then take the perimeter bus from Bank of America up to Haas on weekdays. If you drive, park in the orange garage off Telegraph between Durant and Channing. Some of the local merchants (Noah's Bagels) will validate the ticket for a few hours.

Stanford parking is not much easier during the day, but if you go after 4pm, everything is free on campus.

@ Ozmba2006 - We have a very similar schedule.

Stern: Went in July, will go to diversity weekend if accepted.

Yale: Diversity weekend in November if accepted.

Columbia: Will try to squeeze this in the week of the diversity weekend at Stern

Wharton: November

There are a few other schools that are low on my list but I have received invites to go to their diversity weekends and I'm tempted to go considering they reimbures your expenses. My only concern is that those weekends could be better spent on my main applications. :dunnow

Stanford has free shuttle service (https://fops-cf.stanford.edu/stanford_ivl/) which will take you pretty much anywhere on campus. It is easily accessible from Caltrans, SLAC, and downtown Palo Alto. Parking is free after 4pm, if you want to come in earlier, you can purchase an all-day pass from Parking and Transportation (https://campus-map.stanford.edu/index.cfm?ID=09-110), though finding parking once you have that pass is not an easy proposition depending on the time of day.

Yes, take the AirBART bus to the Oakland/Coliseum BART station, take one of many trains that will take you either to San Francisco, Richmond, or Pittsburg/Baypoint. Transfer at 12th Street/Oakland transfer station (again, the other train to Richmond should be on the other platform, if you're not on it already). Exit Downtown Berkeley station.

If you can get on the "Richmond" Train, you'll be fine. If anything else, transfer, but make sure you're going NORTH! (Avoid Fremont or Pleasanton trains)

PM me if you want more details.

ok so check this out - have planned my annual trip to the US around college visits this year

Boston - going to MIT, HBS, Tuck, Yale, Wharton........all in five weekdays.

Chicago Leg - U-Chic, Kellog

Bay Area - Stan, Berkley

Total trip length (from India back to India) - three weeks

Total money spent - dont ask

Chances of me actually making it to all these colleges - NIL (will probably drop either Tuck or Yale)

- Once at Millbrae, get off, go through the BART gates towards the other set of tracks (don't go upstairs). That's the CalTrain area. Buy a ticket from the zone Millbrae is in (2 I believe) to the zone Palo Alto is in (Zone 4 I believe).

- Once the Train reaches Palo Alto, look for the Stanford "Marguerite" busses. They only run on weekdays. That will take you to various points on campus.

BTW, when are you coming?

Hi Kryzak,
When you debark the BART train at the Millbrae station and exit directly to the Caltrain station you will be on the northbound platform. One needs to cross the tracks to get to the platform where the southbound train boards. I believe the only way to do this is to go upstairs. Palo Alto is in zone 3.

oh yeah, you're right... you do have to go up the stairs/escalator to get to the other side of the caltrain tracks to go south. Thanks for pointing that out!

Okay, this is impressive. And because you will be visiting the schools at a time when you should focus on the essays, you'll have to make some very careful plans. You may not want to do nothing on the essays for the three weeks.

yeah, looking at my travels on weekends to visit UCLA, and some weekdays to STanford and Berkeley, I'm already worried I'm not spending enough time on my essays!

I was kindof hoping to do have good solid drfats of my R1 essays ready before I leave an then keep doing iterations while in the US. Basically was hoping that "others" are making the effort at that point of time. Too optimistic??

I just booked all my flights for my october jaunt.

Monday - Berkeley
Tuesday - Stanford
Wednesday - UCLA
Thursday - Harvard
Friday - Chicago
(spend the weekend in chicago)
Monday - Michigan and then back home

Its totally over aggressive and foolish, but it worked out schedule wise. Hopefully it doesn't kill me.

LA to Boston to Chicago? Talk about taking the long way around.

Out of curiosity how much are all those plane fairs going to set you back?
