Thank you for your assessment, Paul. I will concentrate on showing my leadership skills in my essays via examples from my theatre work - in addition to my work as an actor, I've also worked extensively behind the scenes as both a director and stage manager. Perhaps I should scale back a bit on mentioning my work at my "day" job - which is what my job at the private equity firm really is, since my title isn't really that sexy! LOL. I would give my eye-teeth to go to HAAS - I had a great conversation with a second year last year, who was co-chair of the arts and media club, and 39 at the time. He seemed to believe that if I spoke well enough in my essays about how I'd like to change pop culture's often negative depictions of women by writing and producing films featuring strong, funny female characters, that I could make a really good case for wanting a b-school education. As an aside, who knew 42 would be considered "old"? The women in my family have been living, and I mean LIVING - not ekeing out a miserable existence as they dodder into old age - to at or near the century mark for generations.
And all of them have worn many different "hats", as the cliche goes, throughout their lives. Lots of different careers and different kinds of focus throughout their lives...but I digress. I am not a starf***er, so to speak, in terms of the schools to which I am choosing to apply. HAAS or Columbia would be great...but perhaps you would be kind enough to suggest one or two others that I should include on my list?
Again, many thanks for your time. I appreciate your candor!
Cheers,
Uphillclimb

Uphillclimb,

Yes, I share your amusement at the notion of 42 as "too old," given that that landmark is now in my rear-view window. Given your aspirations I really think you should target UCLA, USC, and perhaps some NYC programs like NYU. If you aimed for part-time programs you'd increase your odds of admission.

Good luck,
