Hello,
I'll keep this short and to the point. I am looking primarily at an IMBA from South Carolina (Moore). International finance and consulting is my target career. Other potential schools include Purdue, Texas, Ohio State, Penn State (in no particular order). Do I have a decent/good shot at any of these schools? A very brief and general overview of my stats is listed below.
Age: 22
Location: United States
GPA: 3.91/4.0 (Only 2 B's in undergrad at selective/highly selective midwest liberal arts university. 4.0 GPA in 6 of 8 semesters)
Major: Finance
Minors: Economics, Accounting
Numerous academic scholarships in undergrad, including one my senior year from The Boeing Co.
GMAT: 660 (First try and I will retake in hopes of 690+)
Study Abroad in Australia for 1/2 year
Two summer internships in non-finance role.
Other countries visited: Mexico, Tunisia
Current Job: Out of college, I started working as a mutual funds accountant for a Fortune 500 company. I am the lead accountant on 3 mutual funds, 2 of which are multi-billion dollar funds with a huge variety of securities, domestic and foreign. While I am the lead on these funds, I do not manage any people. I started out as the lead on only 2 funds, but was given a thrid fund after one month, and sometimes pick up a fourth when others are out of the office. This job requires extensive knowledge of finance AND accounting practices. Economics knowledge is not necessary, but helpful.
I am active in a volunteer program through my work, and another in the community. I have other community volunteer experience in the past, including a leadership role.
Im active in other random extracurriculars (sports, photography, travel)
My age and lack of experience seem to hurt, but I have been told by admissions officers and current MBA students that they may also help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and I'll take advice from anyone. Thanks!!!
