Sorry for the delayed reply; I've been traveling. I would view 690 as a minimally acceptable competitive score and certainly not one that will help you stand out from other applicants. It will "hurt" you in the sense that you'll be competing with people who are offering higher scores.

They will not consider you as Indian, of course, but you may want to work harder to position yourself as Pakistani so they don't mentally dump you into some South Asian pool. That is, *help them* view you as distinct from the crowded Indian pool.

I don't think the fact that you changed careers into finance from your IT degree will help you much. If anything, it shows that you did start out in the more common IT pool. So play up the finance background, not the IT degree.

Given your goals you would be competitive at Rochester, Cornell, CMU, UNC, Indiana, Texas, Emory, and Georgetown among others. You could also apply to a couple of reach schools, for example, Chicago.
