I have been working hard for quite some time but I have not been able to achieve what I expect. I am not hoping for a 700 but somewhere my ability will take me under normal studying pattern. This is what i have done so far: I got enrolled with Kaplan 5 months ago but was never serious until 2 months ago when I "actually" started working hard. I studied for 20 days for my 1st test pretty hard. My Kaplan scores then were: 490-520-530-570.
MGMAT were: 600-590-590. But when I took GMatprep I got 470!!. I felt low. anyhow I took the exam with only 4 hours of sleep and a little foolishness; I was trying to calm down and in this process lost track of time because I used 15 mins of break time. When I came back, just the thought of losing 5 mins broke me down. I was literally staring at the computer screen for the next 5 mins at least. I thought of cancelling the score and talked to the people there, in this process lost another couple of mins. I decided to take it because my deadlines for school appl.were coming soon. So half-heartedly I finished the exam with 530. I was wretched. To meet the deadlines of other schools I have scheduled my exam after 31 days form the 1st one which is right around the corner.
I have been working very hard since last 20 days; went over through Kaplan materials again. bought
MGMAT SC bible, worked over my strengths and weaknesses and a lot more. My current development is: GMATPrep- Q44 V25.
MGMAT- Q43 V31. Kaplan- Q40. I got Q48 in Kaplan once. What amazes me is my verbal has frozen. I am hoping
MGMAT SC bible will help me pull it up a lil bit. I am still doing SC bible though. I have 47% accuracy in Critical reading, 63% Reading comp and 75% SC (thanks to SC bible) [
MGMAT Verbal.] Can someone tell me how to improve my crucial areas in verbal?
For Quant: I have a good grasp of Bascis except a lil bit of number properties, mean-mode-median etc and Geometry. Whats killing me is I let myself bogged down by difficult probs. and lose time. But then, if I have understood correctly, getting harder ones right gives you more credit than more easier ones correct becoz it is a CAT test. What is more important: getting most right on the 1st 10 questions at the cost of sacrificing fews later on by wild guesssing or solving only those that you think are going to make it from the beginning? So I dont know what to do. I am onLY 6 days away from the big day. If some positive soul can advice me how to channel my course, i would remember it. Thank You all You are doing a great job keeping this thread full of life and inspiration!!
