Withdrew from Ross, eh? What are your post-MBA goals? Something finance related, I'm guessing. :) I'm actually really torn on Ross. I LOVE Michigan. However, Cornell has a solid investment management pipeline. So as it stands, I'm having a difficult time with my decision. Also, Darden is in the mix because of its super tight alumni network and solid IM placement. In any event, good to hear that you have mad props for Cornell!

Ross is great for those looking to get into Consulting....for those into Finance, I'd venture towards Cornell, for sure...the Parker Center is sweet! And the Cayuga fund has outperformed the market since its existence! :-D

My advice for those of you who are comtemplating between school is not to choose Cornell. Of course, my opinion will change once I get off the waitlist.

Has anyone been successful getting an extension from Cornell on the deposit deadline while they wait for another school? I'm waiting for Michigan which releases results on March 15th and debating whether it makes sense to lobby for two additional weeks to make my deposit.

Tomorrow's the deposit deadline - right?

This is interesting - formerlehmanite let me know what you are planning to do, because I'm waiting for other school results too.

The "ask Johnson" BW thread stated that they weren't going to extend the deadline - but that was in response to an international student asking if the deadline could be extended till the no-cosigner loan deal was finalized.

that being said, I love Cornell - looking fwd to DJ, but I'm awaiting results from other schools and it would have been nice to have some more time before paying the deposit. Kellogg allows you to attend DAK before paying the deposit, wish it was the same way with Johnson.

The research that I've done leads me to believe that they don't usually extend the deadline. Right now I think I'm going to put down the deposit. Its only $1500, which is definitely less then comparable schools. If it was only a few days they might be compassionate, but 2.5 weeks is probably too long.

I thought you have some R2 action with Wharton and Ross, among others...? What's your status and how would you rank your remaining options?

wow.. I didn't know I was being followed. I rarely post, but apparently you noticed! lol..

I have been invited to interview with Ross but withdrew my application because cornell is a better fit for me. Interviewing with wharton alumni tomorrow.. and waiting to hear from columbia for the final result.

wharton would be my first choice, but I don't know what happens if I get in Columbia. But I want to say that I'm a big fan of Cornell.

good luck with your Wharton interview buddy..........

Thanks! I completed it. Let's see what happens now.. 1 month of waiting will be harsh!

My deposit is in for Johnson, by the way.

Yes, my post-mba goals are related to finance, basically. Darden really has a super tight alumni network. I received many phone calls and e-mails from both alumni and current students regarding whether I had questions or I made my mind about attending Darden. Although Darden is a great school, again, Cornell is a better fit for me. Only Wharton - and maybe columbia - can change my mind about it.

EDIT: Columbia cannot change my mind any more! :)

so what do you guys think, is there going to be some movement tomorrow/next week because of the deposit deadline today?

I am hoping for a low turnout for deposits!

Just got extended an interview offer this morning. A few questions:

1. Do I have to go to Ithica?
2. If I do go, what are the chances of getting in this late in the game? I am an R2 applicant.

I had a Stern interview on 2/19, so Stern will get back to me within 3 weeks. If I get the Stern offer I won't make the trip. But just curious on my options.

Thanks,

ummm, isn't R2 over? the deposit deadline was yesterday, right?

As for your questions:

1) I think they really want you to come to Ithaca unless there is a lot of distance between you and the school (International or maybe West Coast).

2) Depends on the strength of your application and how your interview goes. I think over all it is about a 50% shot, but that's quite relative.

Has anyone tried to calculate any of these numbers:

1) What percentage of R3 applicants receive interviews?
2) Approximately how many R3 interviews will be granted this year?
3) What percentage of R3 interviewees are usually accepted?

If so, let me know what you've come up with.
